Description:This large, original antique lithograph linen-backed folding map of England and Wales showing the dominant geological strata of Britain as far north as Berwick was compiled by the famous Scottish geologist and author, Sir Archibald Geikie, Director-General of the Geological Survey of the United Kingdom. The map was also published by the prestigious Bartholomew publishing house in 1897. legend which runs along the left-hand margin of the map explains the colouring. There are also three geological cross-sections.
