This large hand coloured original antique map and view of the Magellan Straits as surveyed by Capt James Cook during his 2nd voyage of Discovery in 1773 was published for Antoine-François Prevost's monumental 20 volume edition of L`Histoire Generale des Voyages published by Pierre de Hondt, The Hague between 1747 & 1780.

As with all the Prevost maps this one is finely and accurately drawn & engraved on strong sturdy and clean paper with beautiful hand colour. (Ref: Tooley; M&B)
