This fine beautifully hand coloured original antique print a plan of the Portuguese fort in the city of Kodungallur in the state of Kerala, SW coast of India was published for Antoine-François Prevosts monumentus 20 volume edition of L`Histoire Generale des Voyages published by Pierre de Hondt, The Hague in 1747-80.


A detailed depiction of Cranganore, a maritime town of Southern India, on the Malabar coast. Formerly possessed by the Portuguese and after a struggle by the Dutch. Indeed, the plan shows the new fortress after it was rebuilt in 1709. (Ref: Tooley; M&B)
