This finely engraved beautifully hand coloured original antique map of the pre-revolutionary States of America was published by Leonhard Euler for his Atlas Geograhicus, Berlin 1753.
Physician and cartographer, born in Basle, Euler spent many years in Germany and Russia where he was associated with the preparation of the Atlas of Russia (J. N. Delisle) published in St Petersburg in 1745.(Ref: Tooley; M&B)
