hand coloured
original antique map of the Caribbean Island of Jamaica was published by Georg Mattraus Seutter
in 1730.
Large map of the island divided in the fourteen
precincts. Great detail of the topography, settlements,
and plantations. Text at top describes the location and
history of the island. The very large & decorative
cartouche depicts natives harvesting, processing and
curing sugar cane, alongside turtles and mermaids. (Ref: M&B; Tooley)
